Mineral de Pozos Magic Town from San Miguel de Allende

Get to know Mineral de Pozos! Place where you can still see the remains of a great, wealthy city thanks to its mining industry. Today its imposing constructions show us the solitude brought on by a sad decadence, abandonment and the passage of time. Pozos was founded in 1576 to protect the Silver Route from the aggressive Chichimecas. As it was difficult to civilize this indigenous group, this job was entrusted to the Jesuits who became aware of the wealth of the minerals in this area and taught these people techniques to extract and exploit the metals; Pozos had several very rich periods of bonanza, but the day came when the minerals were all used up and this Ghost Town was left to be admired by adventurous visitors; Visit to the Jesuit Furnaces, the Mine and Hacienda of the Five Lords and that of Santa Brígida, The Temple of the Lord of the Works, the Model School, the Church of San Pedro, among other places full of history.
