COVID-19 | GENERAL INFORMATION AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES
In the presence of an acute outbreak of respiratory infection by a new strain of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the People’s Republic of China, in the province of Hubei, and in neighboring countries, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that to date in Mexico some cases have already been confirmed. Given this, the Ministry of Health of the Government of Mexico recommends to be aware and inform the first contact personnel in medical and public units, and the general population, of the measures to follow to detect and avoid the presence of the new Coronavirus in Mexico.
What is the Coronavirus?
It is not really a single virus, but a family that normally affects animals, although some can be transmitted from animals to people and cause from a cold to an acute respiratory syndrome. The coronavirus “COVID-19” is a new type that can affect people.
SYMPTOM
- Fever
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Gastric problems
- Diarrhea
SERIOUS CASES
- Pneumonia
- Severe acute respiratory syndrome
- Renal insufficiency
PROPAGATION
- Among animals: rats, badgers, camels, bats, marine animals among others.
- From animals to humans and from humans to humans.
- Airway, contact with secretions and contaminated objects.
IN CASES OF SUSPECT
- See a doctor in the presence of symptoms
- People with suspicion should remain in a confined, clean and well-ventilated place.
TREATMENT
- There is still no vaccine or medicine to eradicate the disease.
- Symptoms can be treated only by qualified health personnel.
PREVENTION
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
- Wearing face masks.
- Do not wave or kiss.
- Constantly wash your hands.
- Avoid crowded places.
- Consume well-cooked food.
- Avoid contact with people with respiratory diseases.
- In case of traveling, follow the sanitary rules and procedures.
